Not to be Missed, Shot of Java

If you are like me, you need coffee or some other form of caffeine to get you going!  I am always on the lookout for locally owned coffee places, the corporate joints are just fine but sometimes lack the coziness and friendly environment that I like.

In the heart of downtown Glendale, there is little place kind of off the beaten path, Shot of JavaOpened since 2006 by a husband and wife team, their goal was to have a place where friends could come and relax, enjoy a good cup of their favorite coffee and have a neighborhood feel.  You may have passed right by it not realizing it was there as it’s situated in an alley just north of Old Roma Pizza between 58th and 57th Avenues.  This neighborhood coffee house is warm and friendly and has an outdoor patio where you can sit back and enjoy your Chai Latte or Mexican Hot Chocolate in the cooler weather.

They of course offer the usual suspects on the menu like espressos, americanos, cappuccinos and lattes.  They do also offer blended drinks, smoothies, iced teas, loose leaf teas and Italian sodas.  They also have some munchies to go along with your coffee such as biscotti, assorted muffins and cinnamon rolls, sweets like brownies and cupcakes too!

If you happen to be at Shot of Java on a Thursday night and are feeling brave, open mic night starts at 7:00pm and is every Thursday.  So if you have a song to sing or poem in your heart that you must set free come and hang out for a while.  If you are an artist and have artwork you would like to showcase, Shot of Java is always looking to support local artists.

So next time you are in the downtown Glendale area and are looking for a great place to  read a book and enjoy a tasty cup of coffee, pass by that Starbucks that you already know all about and try something new!  Shot of Java may be your next go to place for your caffeine cravings!
