4th of July Fireworks 2020

Yes, there will still be fireworks this year! While some events have been canceled this year, others changed up their format to social distance drive-ins!

FireworksLitchfield Park
The City of Litchfield Park and The Wigwam are partnering to present a 4th of July fireworks show on the grounds of The Wigwam. Unlike prior years, there will not be an event attached to the fireworks show.  Area residents are encouraged to watch from their homes/yards and resort guests to watch from their rooms. Fireworks: 9pm

Surprise
Surprise’s celebration will be limited to a 20-minute fireworks show that will be staged around Bullard Avenue and Paradise Lane. Area residents are encouraged to watch from home or from inside their vehicles. Parking at Surprise Stadium, Surprise Aquatic Center and Dreamcatcher Park will be available but is limited. Fireworks: 8:40pm

Scottsdale
Scottsdale’s 7th annual celebration at Westworld of Scottsdale will be drive-in this year with fireworks show. Concessions such as hot dogs, soft drinks and alcohol and tacos from the Original AZ Taco Festival Truck will also be available. Fireworks: 9:00pm

Mesa
The drive-in fireworks show in Mesa will take place at what was formerly known as Fiesta Mall. Guests will be able to use every other parking spot and can sit outside their vehicle. Fireworks: 9pm

Casa Grande
To maintain social distancing, there will be a drive-in fireworks show at Ed Hooper Rodeo Park. The parking lot will open at 7 p.m., with an entrance at Rodeo Road and Pinal Avenue and another at Pinal Avenue through the Paul Mason Sports Complex. Concessions won’t be available so guests are encouraged to bring their own food and drinks. There will be restrooms and hand-washing stations. Fireworks: 9pm

Gilbert
Gilbert’s drive-in fireworks show will take place at Crossroads Park. Alternating spaces will be blocked to promote social distancing. Each space is limited to groups of eight or fewer people. Guests can bring their own food or purchase concessions from a number of food trucks. Restrooms will be available, but other park amenities will be closed. Fireworks: 8:30pm

Barrett-Jackson Arrives for 45th Anniversary Auction

The world’s greatest car collector auction, Barrett-Jackson, headquartered in Scottsdale, is igniting the auction block this weekend for its 45th Anniversary. The event, taking place at WestWorld, runs from January 23 through January 31. Ranging from the outrageously expensive to the hot and flashy, the 2016 auction docket will feature over 1,400 rare and exceptional vehicles, most selling at no reserve.

On its 45th anniversary, the annual auto auction is “transforming” with two big Hollywood additions: Optimus Prime and Bumblebee from the blockbuster Transformers films. You will be able to see the semi-truck and sports car in person when the auction opens and you can even get behind the wheel. Director and car enthusiast Michael Bay will be selling his 1967 Chevrolet Camaro used to play Bumblebee as well as the 1992 Peterbuilt semi-truck that served as Optimus Prime. These won’t be the only celebrity cars to cross the auction block at this year’s event. Others include:

  • A 1970 Chevrolet Corvette custom-made for actress Farrah Fawcett by George Barris, who also designed the Batmobile
  • A 1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow that was singer Frank Sinatra’s wedding present to wife Barbara
  • A 1995 Volkswagen Jetta from the first “Fast & Furious” move, owned by actor Frankie Muniz and autographed by the late “Furious” star Paul Walker

While some of the over 1,400 cars are worth the auction visit just to see how much they’ll sell for, others have a cool factor that makes our inner-car lover giddy. For a schedule of all events during the nine day auction, visit Barrett Jackson. For more information on becoming a bidder, follow the link to Barrett-Jackson bidding.
