19 Dec Glendale’s Mountain Ridge High School West Valley Player of the Year.
Glendale’s Mountain Ridge High School senior is West Valley Player of the Year. Madison Witt is one of the state’s top shot blockers. She has amassed a 64-12 record and has appearances in two semifinal Division 1 state tournaments; just two years ago Mountain Ridge was hovering around the .500 mark.
Her speed and athleticism has enabled Mountain Ridge’s coach Jen McGauley to run a faster offense. McGauley said “Madison was really just too quick for anyone who went up against her”. Playing with her twin sister McKenna, has given them a feel for the perfect shot block and made them a lethal weapon.
The All-West Valley volleyball team has other notable stars from Glendale’s Mountain Ridge High School.
Player of the Year: Madison Witt, Coach of the Year: Jen McGauley, Kayley Siekmann, Mary Claire Tuohy and McKenna Witt. Also making the team is Amanda Conlin from Deer Valley, Madeline Mertz from Centennial, Megan Power, Ironwood.
